Analysis of your samples

Diagnostic testing
and laboratory

We are proud to be able to offer diagnostic testing and laboratory facilities at our health clinic.

Diagnostic testing

Once your physician has ordered your lab tests, you can get them done immediately. We are able to analyze some specimens on site and can quickly deliver the results to your doctor. Other specimens may need to be sent away to other labs and will take a little longer to receive results.

Make an appointment for tests

Some tests need to be booked in advance and you will be given a time between 08:30 and 11:00am on weekdays. In these cases, we recommend that you arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment so you can settle in and relax. Stress and movement can affect the blood and give inaccurate results.

Preparing for you tests

The day before a test, we recommend that you avoid fatty foods and alcohol. Blood samples are normally taken from the inside of the arm so it's a good idea to wear clothing that is easy to fold up. Don’t forget to bring proof of identity.

Food before tests

On occasion, you may be asked to have a test done on an empty stomach. This means that you should not consume any food after 8pm the night before the test and until the test has been done. Unless otherwise stated, you may drink water, coffee and tea but should avoid sweeteners, cream or milk in your beverages.

Urine samples

Should you be asked to submit a urine sample, make sure you use the first morning specimen. This means that you should take the test on the first urination of the day. You will be given a sterile test tube in which to submit your sample.
